Spot ether exchange-traded funds recorded $612m of net creations last week, the strongest stretch since the products began trading, according to issuer disclosures compiled by LedgerWire.
Desk heads attribute the shift to a partial unwind of the cash-and-carry basis trade, which had suppressed demand for outright spot exposure through the first half of the quarter.
"Allocators who ran bitcoin-only mandates are now writing two-asset policies," said one ETF capital markets lead. "Ether is the default second line."
Secondary market spreads tightened to 3 basis points on the largest fund, a sign that authorised participants are competing more aggressively for creation flow.
